ANITA FORD
The focus of my work tends to be anchored in the duality of creativity and destruction. Personal experiences of other cultures, particularly India and Japan, or concerns about the environment fuel this continuing enquiry. Process is of great importance not only as a manner of executing an artwork, but also as a manner of pacing my thoughts and allowing myself to get in touch with my intuition.

'Assembled' screenprints are an attempt to bring to editioned prints some of the qualities I enjoy using with 1-off works of handmade / laminated paper and collage. In these prints the base paper which holds the main body of the silkscreen is harder and crisper than the paper used for the top sections. The softer paper used to create the 'elements' of repeatable collage have been ripped or cut in a variety of ways – to produce a soft paper edge, a creasing and cracking of the screen ink or a feathered edge which maybe handpainted. The top sections of the work have been either glued or tied into place on the base section, thus allowing an editionable collage.

Recent work includes painting as well as the prints and paperworks.
